Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the international hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' new record, the new release, is out on Friday.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer side," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.
So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.
A family member told me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.
Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
