Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the Premier League last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach any other side on English soil. Which implies should it be the Reds...yeah. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the idea it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that individually is not easy. Unbearable.”
