Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden World Series since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
