President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Injured Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in Washington DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Policy Changes
Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident led the government to suspend asylum processing and halt granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
