Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
US entertainer Finn, who featured in beloved television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable Television Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.
Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
