Some deaths in confinement have been high profile, for instance a 50-year-old medical chief who perished in confinement after a third of a year in detention.

A detainee held with the victim reported that he was brought to the yard by correctional officers immediately preceding his death, clearly wounded and naked from the lower body. His corpse has not been returned to Gaza.
